The silence in the executive suite was deafening. My father lowered his head, knowing every word I spoke was the absolute truth.
“I won’t let you sleep on the street,” I said finally, picking up my pen. “Not because of who you were to me, but because of who I chose to become despite you.”
He looked up, a glimmer of hope washing over his face. “You’ll pay the debt?”
“I won’t give you a single dollar,” I clarified. “My legal team will purchase the mortgage directly from the bank. The house will belong to my corporate holdings. You and your wife may live there rent-free for the rest of your lives under a life-tenancy agreement.”
His face fell slightly as the reality settled in. “And Julian?”
“Julian and his sister are adults,” I said firmly. “They will have thirty days to pack their things and find their own way—just as I had to do when I was barely a teenager. They had every opportunity funded by my suffering; now it’s time for them to build their own lives.”
