I slid a legal document across the long wooden table toward him.
“This is an eviction notice for the house,” I stated firmly. “You have until 5:00 PM today to remove your personal clothing. Furthermore, as majority shareholder holding 84% of voting stock, I am exercising my right to terminate your position as Chief Executive Officer effective immediately.”
“You can’t fire me!” Daniel panicked, turning to the board. “I run this company! I bring in the clients!”
“The forensic audit we conducted over the last six days says otherwise,” Marcus interjected, handing out bound financial reports to every board member. “We discovered $1.2 million in unauthorized transfers from company accounts to personal offshore holdings over the past eighteen months. You were embezzling from your own wife while she was undergoing medical treatments.”
The room erupted into quiet whispers of disgust. Daniel looked around at the board members, but no one met his eyes. He was completely trapped, stripped of his position, his home, and his standing in a single hour.
